On the 26th of April, Rachel's Dad, Mr. Lee, gave us a presentation on Solar Panels. It was soo cool!! I learned about the wonders of Solar Panels. The process of the making of the panels. It was cool how you had to first, dig the silicone from the ground, then you wash them and rid them of other minerals. Next, you melt the silicone into a large block and cut the block into many pieces. These pieces are called wafers. They are thin and easlily broken. You add a few chemicals, like anti-glare, and voila you have a single cell. If you add alot of these cells togthe on a panel, you have a solar panel!! In my old school, were we able to ride in a solar car, and we got to look inside at the workings. I had always wondered how these panels were made. Now, I know! A question I still have is, How would you store this energy? How would the energy convert from sunlight to electricity then into a battery? A big thanks to Mr. Lee, I had a lot of fun!
